About the eruv

The Leeds Eruv was established in 2023 and covers a wide area of Alwoodley, Moortown, Chapel Allerton and Roundhay. Please consult the map on this website for the exact boundaries. 


Within an Eruv, you can carry certain items outside your home in the same way as you can within your own house and your garden. Please follow the simple instructions below.


All properties inside the green lines are included in the eruv. If your house is on the green line, then your property is most likely included, but you should check with a Rabbi. More details can be found on the MAP page. 


To make use of the eruv, you first need to check it is operational.  There is a traffic light system on this website, please look before Shabbat starts. A green logo will be shown when the eruv has been checked. If there is a problem with the eruv, then a red logo will be displayed, and you should not carry anything.

Things you can carry:

House keys

Food or drink.- but only if you will use it on Shabbat

Items for use in Shul: tallit, siddur, chumash. 

Medication that you need to take

Clothes

Handkerchief or tissues

Spectacles


Things you can push:

Baby buggy

Pram

Wheelchair


Things you are not allowed to carry:


Anything that is forbidden to be used or moved on Shabbat - such as a mobile phone

Umbrellas - as opening the umbrella is not allowed

Items that you want to use after Shabbat ends
